The first thing that any photographer will need is a camera. Not all cameras are the same or offer the same functionality so its important to have an idea of the type of capabilities that you want or need before jumping in and spending money on your camera equipment. It may be that a good quality camera phone is all that you need. Camera phones are becoming more and more sophisticated and can imitate lots of features that you might usually only find on a DSLR, so make sure you know what it is you want before investing in something that may be more than you need.
