So for this project, I set out to capture the beauty of a lit candle, the mesmerising flame, but when I extinguished the flames I immediately saw the potential that the resulting smoke had to further enhance my image. The result is below and I will explain how I did it, using several images a little PhotoShop magic and some Lightroom post processing too!.
Never work with animals and children they say, well after working with Hypos the furry (AKA Laura), I can honestly say that it was a pleasure on this occasion.
The combination of black and white with a painted in colour using the training edge of the paint brush to give the effect of the subject painting colour onto her face gives an interesting arty type feel to this shot. Of course some photoshop skills are needed to recreate this image, but the effect is fairly simple to achieve.
This shot is trying to create that Amazonian feel, taken in the garden with the bamboo leaves framing my daughters face, with wet hair and in black and white to complement the serious facial expression.
